Mindener Tageblatt uses Eversify for e-Edition
German newspaper publisher, Mindener Tageblatt partnered with Eversify to streamline the production of the mobile version of its daily newspaper.
The mobile content publishing software from Agfa Graphics, Eversify is a cloud-based solution that automates the production and publication process optimized for smartphones and tablets.
Staff at Mindener Tageblatt began developing an in-house version of its print newspaper for mobile devices, but ran into trouble with the growing number of mobile platforms to produce for.
“Producing a mobile newspaper is a completely different ball game,” said Christoph Pepper, editor-in-chief of Mindener Tageblatt. “Our page layout systems are optimized for printed newspapers, not for producing dynamic content for mobile devices. We needed an automated solution that could blend XML data from our editorial systems into an optimized layout for a variety of mobile devices and operating systems.”
Creating the e-edition of the paper meant having to customize content for optimal viewing on all digital-display media. The publisher also redesigned its website to be more mobile friendly as well. Additionally, Mindener Tageblatt wanted all versions of its ePaper on one production platform. With Eversify, the publisher didn’t need to invest in additional hardware or software since it already had a relationship with Agfa Graphics. The cloud-based solution is hosted within the Agfa cloud infrastructure and integrates with newspaper editorial and production environments. It also automatically creates ePapers that can be edited when needed. Finally, Eversify can provide test versions to show editors what the product will look like on various digital media devices a tool Mindener Tageblatt is planning on using in the future.
“It will play an essential role when we develop additional products,” said Pepper. “It’s all part of a unified publishing workflow that combines print, digital products and publication apps to create a premium reading experiences, whatever platform the reader is using.”
