Finnish media group works with DCOS
Finnish media group Kaakon Viestinta Oy has given Sweden-based DCOS Print Inspection Systems an order for a closed-loop density, register and cut-off system for its KBA A510 press, which dates to 1991.
Kaakon Viestinta has 800 employees and is the leading newspaper group in southeast Finland. Kaakon Viestinta has merged its three production sites into one print-production facility in Kouvola, east of Helsinki.
With seven daily newspapers and 21 weeklies and bi-weeklies, Kaakon Viestinta produces about a million copies a week.
The DCOS camera technology to be installed on the press includes 10 CRC4 density and color register cameras and 18 PTC4 cut-off cameras. The Honeywell control system will be partly retrofitted and all quality functions will be controlled by DCOS, including the spray dampening system.
“Kaakon Viestinta has gone through some changes over the last year, merging three print shops into one centralized facility. We are very proud to be part of their future and success. This project perfectly symbolizes our capabilities of providing complete automation solutions for printing presses, combining retrofit with productivity upgrades,” said Mattias Andersson, CEO of DCOS Sweden.
