Vendors bring innovation to Mega-Conference
The Key Executives MegaConference San Diego 2018 opened with a host of new products, solutions and services designed to help newspapers boost revenue, cut costs and grow audience.
Mega-Conference is a joint effort of four media associations, the Inland Press Association, Local Media Association, Southern Newspaper Publishers Association and News Media Alliance. This year the California News Publishers Association partnered with the group as well. The event is in its eighth year.
Mega-Conference attendees are owners, publishers, digital officers or revenue officers of media operations with both print and digital assets, serving their local communities.
Here are some vendor highlights.
Adpay launched "We Remember" from Ancestry, a free digital memorial for families placing obituaries through Memoriams by Ancestry (memoriams.com). The value-add remembrance page is a perpetual extension of the print obituary. Family and friends may collect, share, and comment on loved ones' memories through these free online pages. Integrated into the Memoriams obituary submission platform, this collaborative memorial also includes newspaper and funeral home logos and links, extending brand reach. tal publishing platform CUE, designed for the digital-first newsroom and a constantly changing media environment. Fake Brains released a mobile app to be used in conjunction with its AccountScout product. AccountScout is data-driven software designed for publishers to manage the accounting, billing, and production of their media company. Legacy.com, a destination for people seeking obituaries and funeral service information, and iPublish Media, a self-serve newspaper advertising platform, announced their collaboration to expand access to two revenue-driving initiatives for the newspaper customers they serve. Together they are expanding access to Legacy.com's ObitWriter tool and making iPublish's special Tributes print sections available to any Legacy. com client. ObitWriter guides family members though an interactive format that generates a complete, publish-ready custom obituary in minutes. Inclusion in the iPublish self-serve platform makes pricing and placing that obituary in the newspaper easy for funeral directors and families using the portal. Adpoint is a cloudbased, lead-to-billing media sales solution designed exclusively for media companies with multiple sales channels including digital, print, broadcast, events and outdoor advertising. The Adpoint App delivers media sales solutions on the Salesforce AppExchange. It provides Adpoint's lead-to-billing functionality within the Salesforce Sales Cloud environment, including Adpoint CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote), complex pricing, workflow and invoicing visibility.
Newsbank www.newsbank.com NewsBank launched a new version of its website archive sales tool, providing publishers with a streamlined way to offer readers access to their digitized and text-based archives. For end users, searching is free, with multiple options to pay for the content they want. NewsBank hosts all pages and handles customer service as well as ecommerce transactions.
