Danish paper orders retro t
Nordjyske Medier in Aalborg, Denmark, publisher of newspaper titles such as Nordjyske Stiftstidende, has ordered a retrofit with ABB, a supplier of automation solutions for the newspaper industry.
The order covers three main areas of work, according to an ABB news release.
The first part of the order entails the AMK drives on one tower of the Wifag OF370 press in Aalborg being replaced with state-of-the-art ABB ACSM1 drives.
The second part of the order covers the replacement of obsolete Wifag positioning systems on the same printing tower. The replacement ABB system, APOS, is based on ABB’s Advant Controller AC500 PLC.
The third part of the order covers upgrades to the four existing control consoles used for operating the presses at Aalborg. The new PC hardware and application software will move Nordjyske Medier to the latest touchscreencompatible version of ABB’s MPS Control Console.
