Kansas City Star em­ploy­ees va­cate old build­ing

Kansas City Star em­ploy­ees had their last day July 13 in the paper’s long­time, Ital­ianate Re­nais­sance build­ing at 1729 Grand. e sta is mov­ing into the glass-cov­ered Press Pavil­ion across McGee Street, the paper re­ports.

City Star owner McClatchy sold the old build­ing in sum­mer 2017 to 1729 Grand Boule­vard LLC, which is con­trolled by Kansas City de­vel­oper Vince Bryant. e price was $12 mil­lion, ac­cord­ing to county records.

McClatchy also owns the Press Pavil­ion in the Mis­souri city. Some 200 Star em­ploy­ees were in the old build­ing in fall 2017, ac­cord­ing to McClatchy.

Plans for the old build­ing in­clude po­ten­tial o ce space and data cen­ter space, the paper re­ports.
