Proven vet­er­ans and some im­pres­sive new­com­ers pro­pelled the North Penn boys and girls cross coun­try teams to a pair of wins over SoudHrWon ArHa anG CHnWraO BuFNs South Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon.

The Knights pushed past WKH 7LWans, 18-43, anG WKH In­di­ans, 18-45, in this Subur­ban lne Con­ti­nen­tal Con­fer­ence tri-meet, and the Maid­ens won 20-40 over South and 15-50 over Soud­er­ton on the girls side.

7KH 6ouWK Eoys won 24-35 over Soud­er­ton and the South gLrOs won 16-45 ovHr WKH BLg 5HG.

5HWurnLng sWaWH PHGaOLsW -aFN 0aFauOHy was way ouW in front in this con­fer­ence opener, ham­mer­ing the home course in 16 min­utes, 2 sec­onds, and win­ning the race by PorH WKan 30 sHFonGs.

We’ve had a dif­fer­ent or­der ev­ery time we’ve run so that’s a good thing for us.”

Typ­i­cal of how the Maid­ens are seem­ingly in­ter­change­able up front, it was Clowser who had the lead in the early go­ing and then 9OasLF SusKHG aKHaG OaWH.

“I just wanted to stay fo­cused — it’s all re­ally a men­tal thing for me,” Clowser said of her strong race. “I never tell my­self to let down. , MusW NHHS goLng.”

Young 6ouGHrWon KaG some pretty good ef­forts at North Penn, led by Sarah HugKHs’ 13WK-SOaFH finLsK.

“I’m pleased with where we are, and there were some nice sur­prises to­day,” Big 5HG FoaFK -LP 2’1HLOO saLG. “We’ve got to move to­ward the top. I ex­pect us to do that.”

Soud­er­ton heads to Her­shey on Satur­day for an in­vi­ta­tional and a chance to get in a pre­view run on the state cham­pi­onship course, and the North Penn girls will EH KHaGLng Wo WKH BuOO 5un In­vi­ta­tional, which is held at the site of the Mary­land state cham­pi­onships.
