North Penn stunned by CB South

“I’m friends with so many guys who played Efor) North Penn in the pastI” the se­nior said. “And know­ing that we let them downI it just hurts the most.”

It took a dra­matic sec­ond­half come­back from vis­it­ing Cen­tral Bucks South cri­day nightI but North Penn’s PMgame con­fer­ence un­beaten run came to end on Homecoming at Craw­ford Sta­dium.

South quar­ter­back John Pi­leggi found Cale Mosher for an 18-yard touch­down pass with 1:MP re­main­ing and the vis­it­ing Ti­tans stayed un­de­feated by ral­ly­ing back from 1S down at the half to beat the hnights PS-O9.

“They out­played usI” said North Penn coach Dick Beck of the sec­ond half. “They came out with some en­ergy and stopped us on WKH firVW GrLYH. , WKRuJKW ZH missed a cou­ple plays we had out there. And I was a lit­tle dis­ap­pointed about that. LookI when it’s time to make a playI you’ve ei­ther got to make the play or not.”

CB South trailed OP-T at half­time af­ter be­ing out­gained PO9-ROI but the Ti­tans ES-MI P-M con­fer­ence) scored on all four of their sec­ond-half pos­ses­sions to hand the hnights EP-PI O-1) WKHLr firVW-HYHr ORVV Ln WKH SOL Con­ti­nen­tal.

“We are so pumpedI” Pi­leggi said. “We knew we could do it af­ter half­time. We knew we could score points fast.”

North Penn’s last de­feat in con­fer­ence play was as a mem­ber of the SOL Na­tion­alI as CB South beat the hnights 41-OT in Week 1M of the OMMT sea­son.

The hnights held South’s 1IMMM-yard sopho­more run­ning back Josh Adams to just SP yards on O1 car­ries — al­though Adams did score on a 9R-yard kick­off re­turn — but had no an­swer Pi­leggi and the Ti­tans’ pass­ing at­tack. The se­nior quar­ter­back was 18-of-OT for OP8 yards and four touch­downs – two each to Mosher and Paul Weeks.

“I think we were kind of too fo­cused on No. 1O EAdams)I he’s such a hell of a play­erI” Gozur said. “I meanI at that pointI we’ve just got to be able to make some plays. Just got to be able to make those lit­tle plays.”

Steve seal led South with six catches for 8S yards. Mosher had 81 yards on six re­cep­tionsI while Weeks PDGH fiYH FDWFKHV IRr 65 yards.

“I thought we did a nice job against the runI but when you’re stop­ping the runI you’ve got to be able to cover the passI” Beck said.

North Penn threw for OS1 yardsI as Austin Shearer went R-of-T for 14R yards and Mike Ber­stecher com­pleted 8-of-1T passes for 11S yards and two touch­downs. hris Akins paced the hnights with four re­cep­tions for 11R yards and a score.

North Penn — which had a two-game win streak snapped — looks to bounce back against Hat­boro-Hor­sham at home cri­day. CB South faces the only other un­beaten in the SOL Con­ti­nen­tal cri­day as it vis­its Pen­nridge.

“We’ve got to work hard and see if we can make the play­offsI” Beck said. “That’s where we’re at right now.”

Af­ter the Ti­tans pulled to within OP-O1 in the thirdI North Penn re­sponded by push­ing its ad­van­tage to O9OP on Gozur’s R-yard touch­down run with 9:48 left. A missed ex­tra point kept the mar­gin eight.

South pro­ceeded to march SR yards on 1M plays to tie the con­testI as Pi­leggi found Weeks for a 1M-yard touch­down at R:R4 then con­nected with Mosher for the two­point con­ver­sion.

1RrWK 3Hnn PDGH RnH firVW down on its next driveI but had to punt from its own PS. Pi­leggi opened the Ti­tans’ se­ries – which be­gan at the South OT with O:PR left – with a PT-yard pass to seal. Two plays la­t­erI the hnights were called for pass in­ter­fer­enceI set­ting CB South up at the North Penn O1.

On third-and-TI Pi­leggi found Mosher in the mid­dle RI WKH fiHOG, ZLWK WKH VHnLRr wide re­ceiver shed­ding a few tack­les be­fore rac­ing into the end zone for an 18yard touch­down with only SP sec­onds left.

“I’m look­ing left at the line­backer and he dropped back and I know Cale’s prob­a­bly one of the best re­ceiv­ing run­ning with the ball in the leagueI” Pi­leggi said. “He’s fastI he’s slip­pery. I know he can make a play.”

North Penn got to the RM be­fore Shearer com­pleted a Hail Mary to Colton Pyne short of the end zone as time ex­pired.

The hnights took a T-M lead on their open­ing drive cri­dayI as Ber­stecher con­nected with Akins for a OS­yard touch­down pass at T:1M Ln WKH firVW TuDrWHr. BuW WKH Ti­tans quickly were level as Adams took the kick­off back 9R yards for a touch­down at S:RR.

Ber­stecher col­lected his sec­ond pass­ing touch­down at 9:1S in the se­condI hit­ting Ge­orge Ship for a R-yard score. Trou­ble on the ex­tra point left North Penn up OMT. Bran­don Man­des put the hnights up OP-T with his OPyDrG fiHOG JRDO DW 4:25.

Cen­tral Bucks South cut into North Penn’s lead at S:M9 in the third on Pi­leggi’s 1-yard touch­down pass to Mosher. Af­ter the hnights went three-and-outI the Ti­tans made it a two-point game as Weeks hauled in a 4-yard touch­down pass at 1:44.
