lwen t. Row­land, age 9M, a res­i­dent of Towamencin Town­ship for the past 5P years, died lct. 21, 2M12, at Abing­ton eospice at tarmin­ster. ee is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife of S4 years, Ruth Ehos­sol) Row­land. The two were mar­ried in 1948 and pre­vi­ously resided in Philadel­phia and Ard­s­ley.

Born lct. 27, 1921, in Pat­ton, Pa., lwen was a son of the late Richard and Min­nie Eiyle) Row­land and was the youngest of six chil­dren.

fn 1942, while serv­ing with the state po­lice, Mr. Row­land en­listed in the U.S. kavy and saw ac­tion aboard the De­stroyer USS tain­wright in the At­lantic DQG 0HGLWHU­UDQHDQ flHHWV. ee re­ceived an hon­or­able dis­charge in 194S.

Mr. Row­land grad­u­ated from the Uni­ver­sity of Penn­syl­va­nia’s thar­ton School in 1951. For more than PM years, he was em­ployed by United bngi­neers & Con­struc­tors in var­i­ous ca­pac­i­ties in­clud­ing project buyer, man­ager of equal em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­nity, le­gal ad­min­is­tra­tor and tax man­ager.

ee was an ac­tive mem­ber of the ians­dale United Methodist Church and sang in its choir since 1959. ee also served for sev­eral years as Cherub Choir ac­com­pa­nist, editor of the church news­let­ter and later as co­or­di­na­tor for Red Cross blood drives.

fn ad­di­tion to his wife, Mr. Row­land is sur­vived by their two daugh­ters, hath­leen tong and her hus­band, Richard, of Florham Park, k.J., and Cyn­thia iesit­sky and her hus­band, Jeffrey, of Sal­fordville; four grand­chil- dren; and three great-grand­chil­dren.

ee was pre­ceded in death by four broth­ers, Paul, Robert, nu­entin and Ver­non Row­land; and his sis­ter, June Row­land.

An op­por­tu­nity to view and greet the fam­ily will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 7 to 9 p.m. Thurs­day, lct. 25, 2M12, at euff & iak­jer Fu­neral eome, 7M1 Der­s­tine Ave., ians­dale, Pa. fn­ter­ment will be pri­vate in thitemarsh Me­mo­rial Park, Am­bler.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice will be held at 7 p.m. kov. 5, 2M12, at ians­dale United Methodist Church, PMM ko­rth Broad St., ians­dale.
