Paul Schmechel says he was taking a nap Monday afternoon when he heard a snap.

“Then I heard another snap,” he said, sitting in the driver’s seat of a pickup truck. “All of a sudden, there was a tree laying in my living room.”

After checking to see if the cable box would come on, Schmechel said he laid down.

“The tree fell right where I was lying,” he said. “Oh Lordy.”
