Hatfield mobile home struck by falling tree
Paul Schmechel says he was taking a nap Monday afternoon when he heard a snap.
“Then I heard another snap,” he said, sitting in the driver’s seat of a pickup truck. “All of a sudden, there was a tree laying in my living room.”
A mobile home in the Oak Grove section of the HatfiHOG 7RwnsKLS, RFFuSLHG Ey Schmechel, absorbed heavy damage when it was struck by a falling oak tree Monday afternoon.
Schmechel said he was by himself inside the home at 17 Cooper Ave. when the incident occurred around 2:20 p.m. He said the power inside the home went out approximately 10 minutes earlier. Schmechel was not injured.
After checking to see if the cable box would come on, Schmechel said he laid down.
“The tree fell right where I was lying,” he said. “Oh Lordy.”
HDWfiHOG SROLFH rHsSRnGHG to the scene. Schmechel — who planned on contacting his homeowners insurance company later Monday — said he would probably spend the night with a friend who lives in the same development.
