North Penn

Coach: Rob Shettsline (18th year) Last year’s record: 5-7 overall (4-3 in Suburban One Continental Conference)

Notable losses: Charlie Price, Nick Gill, Riley McFadden, Brendan O’Connor

Key returnees: Seniors – George Shipp, Joey O’Brien; Juniors – Alex Price, Jeff Reimel, Chris Barr; Sophomores – Richie Liberio, Dalton Hogle

Others to watch: Senior – Matt Robinson; Junior – Marcus Myers; Freshmen – Mikey O’Brien, Sofiane Bensmail

Strengths: While the Knights believe they are well balanced, the middleweights to the light heavies are clearly the strength of the team as the current stage because of their experience and leadership skills.

Question marks: There will be some young wrestlers filling out the roster and the lightweight youngsters will need to gain experience as the season progresses. If the Knights can stay healthy, Shettsline expects a successful season.

Outlook: The Knights lost a few matches last season by only a couple of points and they are hoping another year they can capitalize on the close dual meets. The Knights attended a very helpful team camp this offseason and believe they can compete for a league title.

Coach: Tristan Boyd (second year) Last year’s record: 7-9 overall (3-4 in Suburban One Continental Conference)

Notable losses: Greg Kabakjian, Ryan Eisenhart

Key returnees: Juniors – Ben Kabakjian, Kolton Veit, Brett Hale, Bobby Jenne, Rick Young

Others to watch: Kyle Smothers, Matt Koester, Ryan Derstine

Strengths: The Indians’ numbers have moved up this season and the depth in each weight class will ultimately pay off. The junior class provides the major source of experience and leadership.

Question marks: The Indians are counting on a handful of freshmen to fill out the roster this season. The success will largely depend upon the leadership of the experienced wrestlers, lending a hand to the underclassmen.

Outlook: The Indians have some great senior leaders and a very strong group of junior wrestlers. Boyd expects a lot of growth at the beginning of the season some deep postseason runs by a few individuals.

Coach: Dan Goetter (Third season)

Last season: 5-14 (1-6 Suburban One Continental).

Key losses: Forrest Short, Collin Crouthamel, Ryan Harrison.

Top returnees: Nick Pyott (Sr.); Scott Parker (Jr., 113); Ben Ross (Jr.); Dyaln Gerhart (So.).

Outlook: Parker is aiming for state gold after winning the Southeast Regional and taking fourth at the PIAA Championships at 106 pounds as a sophomore last season. Ross was a regional qualifier at 113, while Pyott and Gerhat both reach districts.

Coach: Glenn Kaiser (13th year) Last year’s record: 10-14 overall (3-4 in Suburban One Continental Conference)

Notable losses: Danny Adelsberger, Han Kose, Lex Ludlow

Key returnees: Seniors – Jason McLaughlin, Scott Humski; Juniors – Phil Torresani, Matt Swiacki, Brad Humski, Kevin Mowry, Connor Bodnar

Others to watch: Junior – Steve Tritsch; Sophomore – Zach Teurke; Freshmen – Nick Giuliani, Nick Schuck

Strengths: The Hatters return nine varsity wrestlers with experience. The junior class consists of three district qualifiers from last season.

Question marks: The Hatters have some holes to fill in the upper weights and it will be up to some inexperienced underclassmen to step up and round out the roster.

Outlook: The Hatters expect to be in the mix for a league title and return to the District Duals. La Salle • Coach: Richard Gebauer (second year) • Last year’s record: 15-3 overall (8-0 in the PCL)

• Notable losses: Matt Cimato, Casey Kent, Bryan Pflanz

• Key returnees: Seniors – Tim Walker, Dad Poquie, Nate Ezzo, Joey Podraza; Juniors – Sal Anderson, Patrick McGinley, Kolby Stein, Antonio Pelusi; Sophomores – Andrew McLaren, Greg Konieczny, Ryan Brady

• Others to watch: Senior – Will Schoen; Junior – Mark Rounbehler; Sophomores – Justin Stout, Sonny Pelusi; Freshman – Anthony Piscopo

• Strengths: Despite the loss of three state top 10 finishers, the Explorers feel their lineup is balanced and devoted to winning the District 12 title again.

• Question marks: The Explorers lost a large senior class and are young. A lot of wrestlers will be receiving lessons of the varsity life on the fly.

• Outlook: The Explorers hope to send a handful of wrestlers to the state tournament and they will be able bring home a few medals.
