Matt Alden finished with 16 points for the Panthers ( 2- 1), who had trouble all game working against the LC zone, which was not necessarily the Crusaders’ planned defense coming in.

“Actually, we went zone kind of on a whim and we got a stop,” Lansdale Catholic coach Ed Enoch said. “Got another one and we played more zone than we have in a long time.”

Kirk put LC up for good in the fourth, scoring a threepoint play at 5:52 then collecting another two on a putback for a 32-28 Crusader lead.

“We had three wins all of last year and we got our third win now, but we have our league play starting next week against Neumann and they’re really good. So, we’re going to have to step up our game even more.”

William Tennent starts Suburban One League National Conference play 7 p.m. Friday, hosting Council Rock North.
