North Penn sweeps ti­tles

lne day af­ter the North Penn boys swim team cap­tured the Con­ti­nen­tal Con­fer­ence ti­tle at Cen­tral Bucks South, the Maidens com­pleted a North Penn sweep of WKH HVHNW Ey VZLPPLNJ WR fiUVW place at the Rick Car­roll Nata­to­rium on Satur­day morn­ing.

The Maidens won eight of the 11 events on Satur­day, sweep­ing the re­lays and set­ting a pool record in the 400 freestyle. A team of Tara Rogers, llivia DiSte­fano, hat Perkins and Emily hosten ham­mered out a 3:31.51, re­plac­ing the 2008 record set by Em­maus, to wrap things up at North Penn.

The Maidens com­piled 459 points, top­ping the 387 scored by Cen­tral Bucks East.

Rogers and Emily hosten were both dou­ble win­ners in the in­di­vid­ual events for the Maidens, as Rogers touched fiUVW LN WKH 200 IUHHVWyOH DNG the 500 freestyle and hosten ZDV WRSV LN WKH 100 EUWWHUfly and 100 freestyle.

It was also a mon­ster day for llivia DiSte­fano, who swam on all three win­ning UHODyV DNG VKH DOVR WRRN fiUVW in the 100 back­stroke.

North Penn was able to over­come some strong swims by Soud­er­ton Area, Cen­tral Bucks test and Pen­nridge, in­clud­ing the pool-record swim by the Rams’ Han­nah Zur­muhl in the 50 freestyle.

The hnights were equally im­pres­sive on Fri­day, led by Jack Mor­ris’ wins in the 100 EUWWHUfly DNG 200 IUHHVWyOH. Mor­ris also an­chored the 400 freestyle re­lay, join­ing Thanas houn­troubis, Jonathan hrail and Liam helly to set a pool record, top­ping the 2011 mark set by North Penn.

Soud­er­ton claimed two gold medals. hevin Musterait won the 100 freestyle in a pool record 47.35, while Lu­cas di­an­inni won the 100 breast­stroke in 1:03.07.

Hat­boro-Hor­sham claimed three golds, in­clud­ing a pair by Michael Thomas. Thomas won the 100 back­stroke in a pool record of 52.02 and the 200 in­di­vid­ual med­ley in a pool record 1:56.55.

The Hat­ters also claimed the 200 freestyle re­lay in a pool record 1:28.89.

The hnights racked up 538.5 points, push­ing them past the 353 scored by Soud­er­ton.

Next up is the District lne Div­ing Cham­pi­onships at Up­per Dublin on Fri­day and Satur­day.
