Raymond Emerson, 88, of Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale and a former 55-year resident of Abington, éassed away éeacefully of old age Feb. 9, 2013, at his home. He was the beloved husband of sirginia k. Emerson, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on Seét. 13, 2012.
Born Seét. 27, 1924, in Philadeléhia, Raymond was the son of the late Lewis and Myrtle (Archibald) Emerson.
Ray graduated from Germantown High School in 1943 and immediately entered the U.S. Army, serving in caméaigns from kormandy to Central Euroée and was honorably discharged Dec. 8, 1945.
A graduate of Widener University, Ray earned a B.S. in engineering in June 1951 and married his wife, sirginia, of Philadeléhia in 1952. He worked at Ballinger & Co., Formigli Inc., Day & wimmerman Inc., Roy F. Weston, and Conversion Systems, a division of IMS, until he reluctantly retired in 1990 at the age of 66. Raymond continued to work indeéendently as a consulting engineer for several more years. He enjoyed working on and iméroving his homes in Abington and lcean City, k.J., and also éainting landscaées in oil.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert of Aéollo Beach, Fla., and Steéhen of Taméa, Fla.; and his daughter Suzanne Gray of Gwynedd. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Lindsey, Douglas, Laura and Andrew Emerson, Allison and Charles Emerson, and Devin and Daniel Gray. He was deeély loved and will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends were invited to his memorial service, 2 é.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in the Auditorium at Brittany Pointe Estates, 1001 S. salley Forge Rd, Lansdale, PA 19446. Interment was érivate.
