Upper dwynedd police are seeking the public’s help in locating two suspects involved in an alleged distraction burglary Feb. 21.

According to police, around 11 a.m., an 82-yearold female resident of the 700 EORFN RI GDUfiHOG $venue reported a residential burglary that had just taken place.

Police said the victim was visited by a white man, described as in his 40s with dark hair and a dark short beard, who claimed to be “the roof guy” there to inspect her roof. The man asked the victim if a woman claiming to be his daughter — described as in her 30s with brown hair and a slight accent — could wait inside while he was working, police said.

The man pointed out moisture around a ceiling vent in the victim’s living room that needed repair, and the woman distracted the victim while the man scouted the home for valuables, police said. A safe containing cash and jewelry was later discovered missing, according to police.

Police ask anyone who may have had similar visits by unexpected contractors or service personnel, or who may have seen anything unusual in the area of the burglary, to contact Upper dwynedd police at 215-699-5861.

All residents are reminded to use the utmost care before letting anyone into your home, and to not be afraid to DsN IRU LGHnWLfiFDWLRn, police said. Utility contractors in this area wear uniforms identifying their company, and only in rare emergency situations make unplanned visits to a home; when in doubt call 911 immediately, police said.
