r.S. gunior Amateur Championship.
Isabella ailisio, the juniorto-be at Mount St. goseph’s Academy, is the highestranked junior girl in Montgomery County — and the defending County gunior Girls champion. She has already won a number of AgGA national events this yHDU DQG DOsR TuDOLfiHG WR play in the r.S. gunior Girls Championship.
rnfortunately, their successes cause a major scheduOLQJ FRQflLFW. BRWK WKH 8.6. gunior Boys Championship and the r.S. gunior Girls Championship are scheduled for guly 19 through 27. If players advance from the medal portion of play, they move into match play. If they advance through the match play brackets, they could be competing until Saturday, guly 27.
The Montgomery County gunior Championship is criday, guly 2S.
“lbviously, we would love to see them playing in the County Am, but if they are still playing in the nationals, that’s even better,” said Lakoce, who has worked closely with the gunior Championship since its inception. “We wish both of them great success in the r.S. gunior Championships. They have reached the pinnacle of junior amateur golf. The best scenario would be to see them at the County Am closing ceremonies on Sunday night, holding their medals as national champions.”
It is quite a coincidence WKDW ERWK GULIfiQ DQG DLOLsLR TuDOLfiHG IRU WKH 8.6. -unior Championships for the fiUsW WLPH LQ WKH sDPH yHDU. The two have been friends and playing golf together since they were old enough to swing a club. They have logged many hours under the tutelage of PGA professional Lou Guzzi and on the course at Talamore CC.
“This has been an extremely exciting week for galen,” said his mother, Lisa ewang, in what is quite an understatement.
Sam ailisio, Isabella’s father, echoed the same sentiments. “We have always been committed to supporting the Montgomery County Amateur Championship, but the possibility exists that Isabella could still be playing in the national championship when that date comes around. If she is not, we hope to make a late entry for the county championship.”
The County Am board KDs DssuUHG ERWK GULIfiQ DQG ailisio that a spot awaits them, if they return home in time to compete. But, in the words of Chairman Lakoce, “We would rather see them return as r.S. gunior champions.”
