Cen­tral EMS of­fi­cials said they want to get more car­diac ar­rest pa­tients to the hospi­tal with a pulse. The rate for achiev­ing “re­turn of spon­ta­neous cir­cu­la­tion” in car­diac ar­rest pa­tients has been low in Wash­ing­ton County for years, of­fi­cials said, but the rate jumped from about 33 per­cent to 60 per­cent from De­cem­ber to Jan­uary, af­ter emer­gency work­ers started a new pit crew ini­tia­tive.
