Central EMS officials said they want to get more cardiac arrest patients to the hospital with a pulse. The rate for achieving “return of spontaneous circulation” in cardiac arrest patients has been low in Washington County for years, officials said, but the rate jumped from about 33 percent to 60 percent from December to January, after emergency workers started a new pit crew initiative.
