Lake cleanup set

Vol­un­teers are needed to clean up an old dump site at Lin­coln Lake on Satur­day. Meet at the lake park­ing area at 8 a.m.

Work should take two to three hours. Bring work gloves, wa­ter and snacks. There are many small items to be picked up so chil­dren are wel­come.

Course teaches na­ture

The Leopold Ed­u­ca­tion Project is open to all area en­vi­ron­men­tal ed­u­ca­tors and will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fri­day at Hobbs State Park-Con­ser­va­tion Area.

The course is based on Aldo Leopold’s “Sand County Almanac” and stresses con­ser­va­tion, en­vi­ron­men­tal teach­ing and crit­i­cal think­ing. School teach­ers, mas­ter nat­u­ral­ists, stream team lead­ers and oth­ers in­volved in en­vi­ron­men­tal ed­u­ca­tion are en­cour­aged to sign up.

Cost is $ 35 and in­cludes teach­ing ma­te­ri­als and a one-year mem­ber­ship in the Aldo Leopold Foun­da­tion.

Ban­quet aids youth

Buck­mas­ters of North­west Arkansas will hold its an­nual fundraiser ban­quet at 6 p.m. Satur­day at the Rodeo Com­mu­nity Cen­ter in Spring­dale.

Buck­mas­ters pro­vides free hunt­ing trips to dis­abled vet­er­ans and young­sters who are ill or dis­abled. Buck­mas­ters also pro­vides fish­ing trips, na­ture ob­ser­va­tion and tar­get shoot­ing.

The ban­quet in­cludes games, auc­tions and draw­ings for sport­ing equip­ment and art.

Group sets hikes

The Ozark High­lands Trail As­so­ci­a­tion has three hikes sched­uled for March. Each is mod­er­ate in dif­fi­culty. All hik­ers are wel­come.

A six-mile hike on the Ozark High­lands Trail from Moon­hull to Mul­berry River is March 8. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at a pri­vate cabin near the Ozone fire sta­tion. Reg­is­ter with Bill Hig­nite, 870-623-6720, bill­hig­nite@live.com.

Hill ‘N Dale Hiking Club will hike

in Bella Vista on Wed­nes­day and in Spring­dale on March 9.

The group will hike two to three miles of the Back 40 trail in Bella Vista on Wed­nes­day. Meet at the Buck­ing­ham trail­head at 9 a.m. at Trafal­gar and Buck­ing­ham roads in Bella Vista.

A hike on March 9 will cover three to four miles at J. B. Hunt Park in Spring­dale. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Bella Vista Harps store to car pool.
