Woman dies after by­standers pull her from burn­ing home

BEN­TONVILLE — A woman died Sun­day after by­standers pulled her from a burn­ing home in Siloam Springs.

Siloam Springs fire­fight­ers went at 12:34 p.m. Sun­day to 1769 E. Ken­wood St., ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease from Siloam Springs. Fire crews ar­rived in less than five min­utes and found flames com­ing out of a win­dow of the sin­gle-story home.

One per­son was be­ing re­moved from the home by by­standers as fire­fight­ers ar­rived. Fire­fight­ers found two dead an­i­mals but no other peo­ple in the home, ac­cord­ing to the re­lease.

The woman, who wasn’t named, was taken to Wash­ing­ton Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter in Fayet­teville. She then was flown to Mercy Hospi­tal in Spring­field, Mo., but was pro­nounced dead a short time later, ac­cord­ing to the re­lease.

An in­ves­ti­ga­tion is ongoing.
