Lions Club

The Fayet­teville Lions Club in­stalled a slate of new of­fi­cers on June 17 at the home of Lions Rick and Syd­ney Bailey. In­com­ing of­fi­cers for 2017-18 in­clude Lt. Col. Steve Gray (USAF, Ret.), pres­i­dent; CW5 Rick Bailey (U.S. Army, Ret.), past pres­i­dent; Dr. Tammy Smith, first vice pres­i­dent; Danny Wal­ters, sec­ond vice pres­i­dent; Karen Yan­dell, sec­re­tary; Kevin Thompson, trea­surer; Duane Wolt­jen, Don Yan­dell, Bill Shack­elford and Syd­ney Bailey, di­rec­tors; Dr. Mike Scrib­ner, lion tamer; and Dana Davis and Don Yan­dell, Tail Twis­ters.

In­com­ing pres­i­dent Steve Gray pre­sented the Fayet­teville Lion of the Year award to out­go­ing pres­i­dent Rick Bailey.

World Ser­vices for the Blind: Sil­ver Cane award was pre­sented to Lion Ruth Co­hoon by pres­i­dent Rick Bailey.

Lion Karen Yan­dell re­ceived the Melvin Jones Award from pres­i­dent Rick Bailey.

Present at the $6,000 check pre­sen­ta­tion June 21 was guest speaker Wash­ing­ton County Judge Joseph Wood, with Fayet­teville Lions Club pres­i­dent Rick Bailey, and Brad Baker, CEO of Mid-South Lions Sight and Hear­ing Ser­vices.

The Fayet­teville Lions Club meets at noon each Wed­nes­day at the Ap­ple Blos­som Brew­ery on Zion Road.

Le­gion 341

Bella Vista Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 341 will hold an ex­ec­u­tive com­mit­tee meet­ing at 10 a.m. Mon­day. This meet­ing is held in ad­vance of the full post meet­ing which will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 10. Both meet­ings will be con­ducted at the Le­gion Hall, 1889 Bella Vista Way. The Twin Lakes Toast­mas­ters Club in Fayet­teville of­fers the skills and con­fi­dence needed to ef­fec­tively ex­press one­self in any given sit­u­a­tion. Pro­fes­sion­als, stu­dents, stay-at-home par­ents and re­tirees are wel­come to at­tend and gain com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills. The group meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. ev­ery Mon­day at Trin­ity United Methodist Church, 1021 W. Sy­camore St. in Fayet­teville.

Auto Club

The Foothills of the Ozarks An­tique Auto Club will meet Thurs­day and will cruise to Granny’s Cafe in Winslow. Mem­bers will meet at the old Sam’s park­ing lot in Spring­dale next to Wal-Mart no later than 9:30 a.m. to travel to Fayet­teville to meet the rest of the car club and will travel to Winslow for lunch at 11:30 a.m. All club mem­bers are wel­come.

Cancer Sup­port

This sup­port­ive and ed­u­ca­tional group is for adult pa­tients, care­givers, fam­i­lies and friends cop­ing with leukemia, lym­phoma, myeloma, MDS or other blood can­cers. The group meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. July 11 at Hope Cancer Re­sources, 5835 W. Sun­set Ave. in Spring­dale.

The Flower, Gar­den and Na­ture So­ci­ety of North­west Arkansas will meet at 10 a.m. July 15 in the stu­dent cen­ter at North­west Tech­ni­cal In­sti­tute, 709 S. Old Mis­souri Road in Spring­dale. Dawn Den­ton, an author and Ben­ton County Mas­ter Gar­dener, will speak on “Laven­der Lessons.”

The Bella Vista Wood­carvers Club is hav­ing an Artistry in Wood show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 15 at the Bella Vista As­sem­bly of God Church, 1771 For­est Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista. There will be lo­cal wood carvers, wood turn­ers and py­ro­g­ra­phers (wood burn­ers), soap carv­ing for kids, wood turn­ing demon­stra­tions, free ad­mis­sion and door prizes.

The North­west Arkansas Os­tomy Sup­port Group will meet at 2 p.m. July 16 at Hope Cancer Re­sources, 5835 W. Sun­set Ave. in Spring­dale. There will be an ed­u­ca­tional meet­ing be­gin­ning at 1 p.m. The July meet­ing will in­clude the an­nual potluck sum­mer party, so bring a dish to share.

Chris­tian Women

“Glad to be an Amer­i­can” will be the theme of this month’s Bella Vista Chris­tian Women’s Club brunch from 9 to 10:30 a.m. July 11 at St. Theodore Epis­co­pal Church, 1001 Kings­land Road in Bella Vista. The fea­ture will be Karen Smith singing pa­tri­otic songs. The guest speaker will be Gale Cole­man shar­ing “Writ­ten On My Heart.” A $10 Amer­i­can style break­fast buf­fet is of­fered. The pro­gram is pre­sented by Stonecroft Min­istries.
