It is not uncommon for universities to lease property for income, state higher education and hospital officials said. However, neither the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville or the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock sublease property, spokesmen said. UAMS in Fayetteville subleases to six agencies: Real Eyes, WelcomeHealth, Smith Communications, Washington Regional Medical Center and Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs. Others interested in renting at the Fayetteville campus can get space “as long as the lessors do not disrupt UAMS operations and if space is available,” a spokeswoman said.
