Index picks up 4.10 to close at 345.85

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, rose 4.10 to 345.85 Monday.

“The Dow Jones industrial average advanced Monday, briefly touching a record high as financials outperform­ed on the abbreviate­d session,” said Bob Williams, senior vice president and managing director of Simmons First Investment Group Inc. in Little Rock.

Total volume for the index was 12.7 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
