Ex-Univi­sion host ex­tra­dited to face child-rape charge

The for­mer Univi­sion Arkansas host Vic­tor Hugo Al­varez-Real was re­leased early Tues­day on a $25,000 bond from the Wash­ing­ton County De­ten­tion Cen­ter where he was be­ing held in con­nec­tion with the rape of a child.

Al­varez-Real, 35, of 1012 N. Kansas St. in Spring­dale was booked in to the de­ten­tion cen­ter at 11:07 p.m. Mon­day af­ter be­ing ex­tra­dited from the Dal­las County Jail where he was orig­i­nally held af­ter be­ing ar­rested June 21.

In late Oc­to­ber, a mother took her 7-year-old child to the Chil­dren’s Clinic in Spring­dale for a rash, which later tested pos­i­tive for her­pes and chlamy­dia, ac­cord­ing to an ar­rested af­fi­davit.

In Jan­uary, the child told her mother Al­varez-Real as­saulted her and the woman con­tacted po­lice, ac­cord­ing to the af­fi­davit.

When con­tacted by of­fi­cials in Jan­uary, Al­varez-Real de­nied any wrong­do­ing, ac­cord­ing to the af­fi­davit filed May 3.

On May 15, an ar­rest war­rant was is­sued for Al­varez-Real.

His Wash­ing­ton County Cir­cuit Court hear­ing is sched­uled for July 14, ac­cord­ing to the county’s on­line de­tainee in­for­ma­tion.
