Hooks top Nat­u­rals with aid of dou­ble play

COR­PUS CHRISTI, Texas — Kent Emanuel got Zach Walters to hit into a dou­ble play in the eighth in­ning, lead­ing the Cor­pus Christi Hooks to a 5-2 win over the North­west Arkansas Nat­u­rals on Wed­nes­day.

The dou­ble play came with the bases loaded and pre­vented the Nat­u­rals from scor­ing in the in­ning.

Cor­pus Christi got on the board first in the third in­ning when it put up three runs, in­clud­ing a solo home run by Ra­mon Lau­re­ano.

NW Arkansas an­swered in the next half-in­ning when Samir Duenez hit a two-run home run to cut the deficit to one.

The Hooks later tacked on a run in both the fifth and eighth in­nings. In the fifth, Kyle Tucker hit a solo home run be­fore he dou­bled to score Lau­re­ano in the eighth.

Emanuel (4-5) got the win with 51/3 in­nings of score­less, five-hit re­lief while Nat­u­rals starter Corey Ray (5-5) took the loss.
