Ready for fishermen

Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - - NORTHWEST ARKANSAS -

Jeff Crow, director of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, speaks Friday during a dedication of the Prairie Creek fishing tournament weigh-in facility at Prairie Creek Park on Beaver Lake. Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Army Corps of Engineers worked together to build the $295,000 facility for weighing fish at fishing tournaments, mainly bass tournaments. About 100 tournaments are held at Prairie Creek Park each year, Crow said. The facility was funded mainly by the Sport Fish Restoration program, which levies an excise tax on fishing tackle. Local anglers donated $32,500 in labor and equipment use. The pavilion may also be reserved for weddings and other events by contacting the Army Corps of Engineers office in Rogers.
