Personal space

Where I live: a studio loft apartment in downtown Springdale

Occupation: Director of visual arts at Arts Center of the Ozarks

My favorite space is: The window in my kitchen.

Why? I love the light that comes through the window and catches my plants as I sit and have coffee or tea and catch up on the daily flight of the world.

My apartment is pretty small. It’s a studio loft apartment that I remodeled in 2015 when I moved in. I like the minimalist style so I went with an all-white Scandinavian look, even going so far as painting the wood floors white. It has three large floorto-ceiling windows, and my ceilings are 10 feet high.

As an artist, I love all the light that the windows allow to move around in my space. With the apartment being so small, I can only have a few pieces of furniture, but I do have a cool little kitchen bartype divider where I sit and draw, read and drink coffee (and bourbon).

I love loft living, especially in a downtown that is in a revitalization process. It’s a little voyeuristic being able to sit high up on a street and watch all the cool happenings going on down below!

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Install a loft bed. White, of course.
