Miss­ing woman, 82, from De­catur found alive, well

The De­catur woman who went miss­ing Thurs­day was found Fri­day night alive and well.

Mar­garet Herod, 82, had mi­nor in­juries, was co­her­ent and only asked for a Moun­tain Dew af­ter she was found, ac­cord­ing to a Ben­ton County Sher­iff’s Of­fice state­ment.

The Sher­iff’s Of­fice sent out a Sil­ver Alert around 3:40 p.m. Thurs­day for Herod, who has de­men­tia and had wan­dered away from her home that morn­ing.

Herod was taken to a hos­pi­tal for fur­ther eval­u­a­tion around 11 p.m. Fri­day. Of­fi­cials did not re­lease where she was found or the hos­pi­tal to which she was taken.

The Ben­ton County Sher­iff’s Of­fice cred­ited its suc­cess to sev­eral other agencies who as­sisted in the search, in­clud­ing Tri-County Search and Res­cue, Ben­ton County Search and Res­cue, Franklin County Emer­gency Man­age­ment, Siloam Springs Po­lice De­part­ment, Ben­tonville Po­lice De­part­ment and oth­ers.
