Es­calera’s homer lifts Naturals to win

SAN AN­TO­NIO — Al­fredo Es­calera hit a three-run home run in the eighth in­ning, lead­ing the North­west Arkansas Naturals to a 5-3 win over the San An­to­nio Mis­sions on Satur­day.

Jake New­berry got Web­ster Ri­vas to hit into a dou­ble play with a run­ner on first to end the game for his 13th save of the sea­son.

The home run by Es­calera scored Hum­berto Arteaga and Zach Walters and was the game's last scor­ing play.

The Mis­sions took a 3-2 lead when Fran­mil Reyes scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.

An­drew Ed­wards (2-0) got the win in re­lief while Aroni Nina (0-1) took the loss in the Texas League game.

TRAV­EL­ERS 3, HOOKS 2 Dario Piz­zano hit a two-run homer in the third in­ning, and Lindsey Caughel al­lowed just one hit as the Arkansas Trav­el­ers de­feated the Cor­pus Christi Hooks. Blake Perry got An­to­nio Nunez to fly out with a run­ner on first to end the game.
