■ Green­land was nar­rowly voted a “dry township” by its vot­ers on Nov. 4, 1958.

■ Green­land has an es­ti­mated pop­u­la­tion of 1,390 as of 2016.

■ Green­land was first called Frog Pond, but the name was changed to Rugby in 1882, changed to Staunton in 1886 and fi­nally changed to Green­land in 1909.

■ Green­land was orig­i­nally part of the Arkansas Ter­ri­tory and called Lovely County.
