Man held in con­nec­tion with sex­ual as­sault

BENTONVILLE — Thomas James Jones, 37, of Rogers was ar­rested Mon­day in con­nec­tion with the sex­ual as­sault of a 14-year-old girl.

Jones was be­ing held in the Ben­ton County Jail Wed­nes­day on a $100,000 bond.

The case was re­ferred to the Ben­ton County Sher­iff’s Of­fice af­ter a re­port was re­ceived by the Arkansas State Po­lice Crimes Against Chil­dren hotline, ac­cord­ing to a prob­a­ble cause af­fi­davit.

The girl was in­ter­viewed at the Chil­dren’s Ad­vo­cacy Cen­ter of Ben­ton County, ac­cord­ing to court doc­u­ments. She re­ported Jones be­gan to abuse her when she was younger than 10 and said the abuse also hap­pened while she lived in an­other state, ac­cord­ing to the af­fi­davit.

Jones’ ar­raign­ment is sched­uled for 8 a.m. Aug. 21 in Ben­ton County Cir­cuit Judge Robin Green’s court.
