For­mer tele­vi­sion host pleads not guilty to rape

FAYETTEVILLE — A for­mer Univi­sion Arkansas host pleaded not guilty to a rape charge Fri­day in Washington County Cir­cuit Court, ac­cord­ing to the pros­e­cut­ing at­tor­ney’s of­fice.

A trial for Vic­tor Hugo Alvarez-Real, 35, of 1012 N. Kansas St. in Spring­dale was set for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 26 in front of Judge Joanna Tay­lor. He’s charged with rap­ing a 7-year-old child, ac­cord­ing to an ar­rest af­fi­davit.

In Oc­to­ber, a mother took her child to the Chil­dren’s Clinic in Spring­dale for a rash, which later tested pos­i­tive for her­pes and chlamy­dia, ac­cord­ing to an ar­rest af­fi­davit. In Jan­uary, the child told her mother Alvarez-Real as­saulted her, and the woman con­tacted po­lice, ac­cord­ing to the af­fi­davit.

When con­tacted by off icials in Jan­uary, Alva rez- Re a l de­nied any wrong­do­ing. Pin­na­cle Me­dia/Univi­sion said in a state­ment in late May that Alvarez-Real left the com­pany in Jan­uary.

An ar­rest war­rant was is­sued May 15 for Alvarez-Real. He was ar­rested in June in Texas and re­turned July 3 to the Washington County De­ten­tion Cen­ter. Alvarez-Real was re­leased from the jail July 4 with a $25,000 bond.
