Bank of Ozarks leads as in­dex climbs 1.27

The Arkansas In­dex, a price-weighted in­dex that tracks the largest pub­lic com­pa­nies based in the state, ad­vanced 1.27 to 341.84 Fri­day.

Eleven stocks ad­vanced and seven de­clined.

Bank of the Ozarks rose 3 per­cent on ac­tive vol­ume.

Amer­ica’s Car-Mart fell 2.9 per­cent in light trad­ing.

For the week, 12 stocks rose and six fell.

Dil­lard’s had the best week, gain­ing 5.9 per­cent.

Bear State Fi­nan­cial fell 2.4 per­cent for the week.

To­tal vol­ume for the in­dex was 24.3 mil­lion shares. The av­er­age daily vol­ume for the week was 23.7 mil­lion shares.

The in­dex was de­vel­oped by Bloomberg News and the Demo­crat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
