Police: Man, 21, found dead of ‘multiple gunshot wounds’
SPRINGDALE — Police are looking for Mei Ka Sin, 23, in connection with a fatal shooting at the Chapel Ridge Apartments on Monday night.
A shooting was reported to police at 7:48 p.m. at the complex at 5325 N. Oak St.
Offi-cers found Rwabuzisoni Daniel, 21, dead in one of the apartments with “what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds,” according to a Springdale Police Department news release.
Daniel, who is from the Republic of Burundi, and Sin, who is from Myanmar, were roommates. Burundi is in East Africa and borders Rwanda. Myanmar, previously known as Burma, is in Southeast Asia east of India.
No one else was injured, and no suspects are in custody, according to the release.
The motive behind the shooting is unknown, Lt. Jeff Taylor said. The investigation is ongoing and a warrant for capital murder has been issued through the Benton County Prosecutor’s office.
The 18-building complex is in the northern section of Springdale in Benton County and is surrounded by Bethel Heights.
In the middle of the day Tuesday, groups of children played on the swing sets and sidewalk, bikes rested on almost every railing and several
parents swam with younger children in the pool.
Several renters said the apartments are filled with working-class families, many Marshallese, and everyone pretty well gets along.
The business that manages Chapel Ridge, Lynd Co., based in San Antonio, didn’t respond to phone calls for comment.
Police were called about a shooting Tuesday at Chapel Ridge Apartments at 5325 N. Oak St. in Springdale. Officers found a man dead from multiple gunshots in one of the apartments, the report said. Police are searching for Mei Ka Sin in connection with the shooting.
