Man, 37, on run turns him­self in to po­lice

CEN­TER­TON — Ken­neth Smith, 37, turned him­self in to po­lice at 9:15 a.m. Wednes­day af­ter run­ning from ar­rest Fri­day night.

Po­lice agen­cies, in­clud­ing De­catur, High­fill, Gravette and the Ben­ton County Sher­iff’s Of­fice, as­sisted Cen­ter­ton with the search. Gravette of­fi­cers used po­lice dogs to help in the search

An of­fi­cer ap­proached Smith’s ve­hi­cle Fri­day when it was stopped at the in­ter­sec­tion of Coop­ers Farm Road and Si­enna Drive.

Smith seemed drunk, had mar­i­juana and para­pher­na­lia, and was placed un­der ar­rest, ac­cord­ing to a Satur­day state­ment from the Cen­ter­ton Po­lice De­part­ment.

The of­fi­cer placed Smith in the rear of a pa­trol car, where he slipped his hand­cuffs un­der his legs to the front of his body and got out of car. He ran west, bare­foot, on Hal­leck Coach Road.
