RECORD DAY Bran­den Grace shot an 8-un­der 62 to set a record for the low­est score in a ma­jor cham­pi­onship. He is seven shots back.

NOTE­WOR­THY Fif­teen play­ers shot 66 or bet­ter on a day when there was plenty of sun and lit­tle wind.
