Glade His­tory

The Glade Com­mu­nity His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety will hold its third gen­eral meet­ing of 2017 at 3 p.m. to­day at the Glade Post Of­fice/ Store and Coal Gap School, 20659 Slate Gap Road in Garfield.

This is the third of four gen­eral meet­ings, a chance to tour the post of­fice/store and school, eat ice cream, visit with other guests and lis­ten to mu­sic pro­vided by Adam Ash.

BC Dems

The BC Dems will meet at noon Mon­day at the Golden Cor­ral, 2605 W. Pleas­ant Cross­ing in Rogers. Lunch will start at 11 a.m. The fea­tured speaker will be Amy Gille­spie, a can­di­date for Ben­tonville School Board.

Democrats

The Wash­ing­ton County Demo­cratic Women will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tues­day at Mer­maids Seafood Restau­rant in Fayet­teville.

The pro­gram, “The im­pact of Mod­ern Sex­ism on the 2016 Pres­i­den­tial Elec­tion,” will be pre­sented by co-au­thors Angie Maxwell, direc­tor of the Diane Blair Cen­ter of South­ern Pol­i­tics and So­ci­ety, and Todd Shields, dean of the J. Wil­liam Ful­bright Col­lege of Arts and Sci­ences and pro­fes­sor of po­lit­i­cal sci­ence at the University of Arkansas. This new re­port an­a­lyzes Amer­i­can at­ti­tudes to­ward work­ing women and fem­i­nism, along with the im­pact of those at­ti­tudes on last year’s pres­i­den­tial race. The re­port is the sec­ond in a se­ries of re­ports based on the 2016 Blair Cen­ter Poll.

The pro­gram is free and open to the pub­lic. Din­ner is op­tional and is $16. Reser­va­tions should be made by noon Mon­day.

Civil War

The North­west Arkansas Civil War Round­table will meet at 7 p.m. Thurs­day in the Gen­eral Store at the Shiloh Mu­seum of Ozark His­tory in Spring­dale. The mu­seum is lo­cated at 118 W. John­son Ave.

The pro­gram will be pre­sented by Pea Ridge Na­tional Park Ranger David Hack­leroad, who will speak on “The Lega­cies of Robert E. Lee, Henry ‘Light Horse Harry’ Lee and Ge­orge Wash­ing­ton.” The pro­gram is free and open to any­one with an in­ter­est in Civil War His­tory.

Stage IV Sup­port

Hope Cancer Re­sources of­fers a sup­port group for men and women living with any type of stage IV cancer. This month’s meet­ing is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Fri­day at Hope Cancer Re­sources.
