DeFra­tus, Cas­teel lead Travs past Nat­u­rals

LIT­TLE ROCK — Ryan Cas­teel hit a three-run home run and had three hits, and Justin DeFra­tus al­lowed just six hits over seven in­nings as the Arkansas Travelers de­feated the Northwest Arkansas Nat­u­rals 6-4 on Wed­nes­day. With the vic­tory, the Travelers swept the three-game se­ries.

DeFra­tus (4-5) picked up the win af­ter he struck out two while al­low­ing one run.

Arkansas went up 6-0 in the third af­ter Cas­teel hit a three-run home run.

Af­ter NW Arkansas scored a run in the fourth on a sin­gle by Hum­berto Arteaga, the Nat­u­rals cut into the deficit in the eighth in­ning when Mauricio Ramos hit a two-run sin­gle and then scored on a sin­gle by Arteaga.

Corey Ray (6-8) went three in­nings, al­low­ing six runs and seven hits while walk­ing two in the Texas League game. Ryan Kelly pitched 11/3 score­less in­nings for his third save of the sea­son.

NW Arkansas missed an ad­di­tional scor­ing op­por­tu­nity in the eighth, when Al­lan de San Miguel flew out with the bases loaded to end the in­ning.
