Road work to de­lay traf­fic

LOW­ELL — Crews plac­ing bridge beams for the U.S. 412 North­ern By­pass will re­quire clos­ing all lanes on South Goad Springs Road for mul­ti­ple 15-minute pe­ri­ods in Ben­ton County this week.

The work be­gan Mon­day, ac­cord­ing to the Arkansas Depart­ment of Trans­porta­tion. Work­ers will close all lanes in­ter­mit­tently from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Fri­day be­tween West Ap­ple Blos­som Road and Puppy Creek Road, weather per­mit­ting. The work also will ne­ces­si­tate clos­ings on the Ra­zor­back Green­way.

All ve­hi­cle traf­fic, cy­clists and pedes­tri­ans will be stopped out­side the Trans­porta­tion Depart­ment’s right of way un­til an all-clear directive is given. Ad­vance warn­ing signs will be placed to no­tify traf­fic ap­proach­ing the clos­ing, and flag­gers will di­rect traf­fic.

Re­pair work on in­ter­sec­tions in Ben­ton County will re­quire tem­po­rary lane clos­ings.

The fol­low­ing in­ter­sec­tions will have al­ter­nat­ing lane clos­ings from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. so sec­tions of as­phalt can be re­moved in prepa­ra­tion for re­place­ment.

■ To­day: The in­ter­sec­tion of Thompson Street and Wagon Wheel Road in Spring­dale.

■ Wed­nes­day: The in­ter­sec­tion of Bloom­ing­ton Street and Mon­roe Av­enue in Low­ell.

Crews will re­place the as­phalt from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sun­day. If work isn’t com­pleted, it will be done dur­ing the same time Aug. 13.
