Road work to delay traffic
LOWELL — Crews placing bridge beams for the U.S. 412 Northern Bypass will require closing all lanes on South Goad Springs Road for multiple 15-minute periods in Benton County this week.
The work began Monday, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation. Workers will close all lanes intermittently from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday between West Apple Blossom Road and Puppy Creek Road, weather permitting. The work also will necessitate closings on the Razorback Greenway.
All vehicle traffic, cyclists and pedestrians will be stopped outside the Transportation Department’s right of way until an all-clear directive is given. Advance warning signs will be placed to notify traffic approaching the closing, and flaggers will direct traffic.
Repair work on intersections in Benton County will require temporary lane closings.
The following intersections will have alternating lane closings from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. so sections of asphalt can be removed in preparation for replacement.
■ Today: The intersection of Thompson Street and Wagon Wheel Road in Springdale.
■ Wednesday: The intersection of Bloomington Street and Monroe Avenue in Lowell.
Crews will replace the asphalt from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. If work isn’t completed, it will be done during the same time Aug. 13.
About 4 miles of the four-lane U.S. 412 Northern Bypass is being built from Interstate 49 to Arkansas 112. More information on the $100.6 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
