Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - - NORTHWEST ARKANSAS - STAFF REPORT

SPRINGDALE — Ozark Regional Transit is lowering the cost for riding the commuter express route between Fayetteville and Bentonville.

ORT has operated the commuter express route since early January. The route has been a nonstop trip from the Northwest Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville to the Eighth Street and Walton Avenue area, with a return trip in the afternoon.

The route is being changed to use a new park and ride lot at the Arkansas Archeological Survey at 2475 N. Hatch Ave., a block west of Garland Avenue and south of the Fulbright Expressway exit.

Cost savings related to the move are being passed along to passengers, and additional bus pass options are offered.

The monthly cost is reduced to $100, and September passes are on sale. The service started late last year at a cost of $182 per month.

A new 10-ride pass has been added for $35.

Both passes can be purchased using PayPal or a major credit card at ORT’s website, www.ozark.org.

Subscription passes are digital and emailed. The 10-ride pass can be ordered online and mailed or picked up from the commuter express driver.

Walk-on passengers are welcome if seating capacity allows for $5 per trip. The single-pass can be purchased with exact change from the driver.
