The Neighborhood Church in Bentonville, 2003 S.W. Regional Airport Road, sponsors the women’s ministry in the “Back to School Bash” from 1 to
3 p.m. today at Havenwood, 808 N. Main St. in Bentonville. Havenwood provides transitional housing for women and their children. Boxes for donations of school supplies for the children of Havenwood are located in the church fellowship area.
The church offers a “Blessing of the Backpacks” during the 9 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. worship services Aug. 20. Worshipers also are asked to donate shoes that day for Soles4Souls.

The United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista,
100 Cooper Road, offers a “Blessing of the Backpacks” during Sunday’s worship service.
The church screens the movie The Shack at 6:30 p.m. Monday, with popcorn provided.
The Breakfast Club meets at 8 a.m Monday at Papa Mike’s restaurant in Bentonville. Sarah Stephenson will speak on “Here I Am, Lord.” The Piecemakers plan a work day from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 20 to tie quilts for Lutheran World Relief.
The church announces book study to focus on Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience and Finding Joy by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant (Knopf, April). Discussions will begin in September.
This month, the church collects school supplies to be given to Gravette schools. Needed items include widerule paper (spiral and loose), three-brad folders with inside pockets, 1-inch binder notebooks, colored pencils, No. 2 pencils, water-proof markers, glue sticks, black dry-erase markers, cloth pencil pouches with holes for notebooks. A grant from the Thrivent Action Team will be used to buy backpacks.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., offers a traditional worship service at 8:30 a.m. and a blended service at 10:45 a.m. each Sunday.
Sunday school and adult Bible classes begin at 9:45 a.m. The pastor begins an “Inquirer’s Class” on Sunday. The class introduces Christianity, Lutheranism and the church. The church begins a new Bible study class Aug. 20, studying Martin Luther’s Small Catechism.
The men’s discipleship class meets at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. each Monday. GriefShare classes meet at 3 p.m. each Thursday, Aug. 24 to Nov. 16.
The Shepherd’s Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. Donation requests include toothpaste, mashed potatoes and staple items for the holiday season.

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., sponsors its Presbyterian Women’s Group for an area gathering Friday at First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. An overview of this year’s Bible study will be presented, followed by worship and a luncheon.
The church’s adult study group meets at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
The church offers a traditional worship service at 10 a.m. every Sunday, with Christian education classes for all ages at 8:30 a.m.
Through the summer months, the church collects snacks for kids to donate to Helping Hands Food Pantry in Bentonville. Suggested items include cheese and crackers, fruit cups, juice packets and boxes, granola bars and microwavable items such as macaroni and cheese, ravioli and soups.

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bella Vista, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., presents the Rev. Nadine Burton as guest speaker Sunday during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. She holds a doctor of ministry degree in multicultural studies.
Sunday school classes start at 9 a.m., with three adult studies and “Creative Worship” for youth. The Singles Group will meet at 5 p.m. Aug. 22.

A women’s Bible study meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Thursday, currently focusing on Bad Girls of the Bible by Liz Curtis Higgs. A prayer fellowship meets at 9:15 a.m. every Wednesday. The men’s Bible study will reconvene Sept. 12 with a new six-week study. The Growing Through Grief support group meets at
3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Parish nurses answer questions and provide blood-pressure checks from 9 a.m. to noon each Wednesday. A caregivers’ support group meets at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

New Life Christian Church in Bella Vista, 103 Riordan Road, offers worship services at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. every Sunday, with full programming for children from birth to sixth grade provided during all services. The church starts a Saturday night worship service at

Life Sprouts Preschool begins fall classes Tuesday. Enrollment is open for 3- to 5-year-olds.
The church sponsors its annual picnic at 5 p.m. Aug. 27 at the pavilion in the Kingsdale Recreation Complex in Bella Vista. A mini-golf tournament and swimming are planned.
The church offers “Collide Worship” for sevenththrough 12th-graders from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The cafe opens at 5:30 p.m.
