Fayet­teville Po­lice to take kids’ win­ter wear do­na­tions

FAYET­TEVILLE — Po­lice will host the sec­ond Cops and Coats for Kids event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sun­day at sev­eral lo­ca­tions in the city.

The depart­ment will have do­na­tion cen­ters set up at the Boys & Girls Club at 560 Rup­ple Road, Fayet­teville High School at 994 M.L.K. Jr. Blvd. and the Depart­ment of Hu­man Ser­vices 4044 Frontage Road for lo­cal busi­nesses and in­di­vid­u­als to do­nate coats, hats and gloves for chil­dren in the area who need them.

Do­na­tions also will be ac­cepted at any time at the Fayet­teville Po­lice Depart­ment at 100 W. Rock St. and Elite Clean­ers at 81 S. Church Ave.

Last year, po­lice said they were go­ing to wait and see the level of par­tic­i­pa­tion be­fore mak­ing it an an­nual event. They col­lected 70 coats, spokesman Sgt. An­thony Mur­phy said.

Coats are dis­trib­uted to chil­dren by the Fayet­teville Boys & Girls Club.
