Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - - NORTHWEST ARKANSAS -

An airman stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base was found dead in northeast Arkansas last week, authorities said Monday.

Senior Airman Michael Lusk’s body was found in Lawrence County on Thursday, according to an Air Force news release.

Lusk, 24, of Johnson City, Tenn., wasn’t on duty at the time, said base spokesman 2nd Lt. Hunter Rininger.

The circumstances surrounding Lusk’s death weren’t clear Thursday, but Rininger said that investigators don’t suspect foul play.

An Air Force spokesman referred questions about the specifics of Lusk’s death to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the matter.

A detective declined to provide additional information, directing questions back to the Air Force.

Lusk was an aircrew and maintenance debrief specialist for the 19th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base.

He joined the Air Force in February 2013, and he was assigned to Little Rock Air Force Base later that year.

“We are extremely saddened by the loss of such a valued member of our team,” said Col. Gerald Donohue, 9th Airlift Wing commander in a news release.

“Michael will be missed by all those who knew him.”
