Ocean Drive - - Without Whom This Issue Would Not Have Been Possib -

Miami-based writer Jon Warech has covered entertainment and pop culture for Us Weekly and AOL’S Mandatory.com. His work has also appeared in the

New York Daily News, Vibe, the Miami Herald, and ESPN the Magazine, among other publications. Recently, Warech coauthored Slam-dunk Success with Byron Scott and Charles Norris, out next month. In this issue, he chats with esteemed football coach Jimmy Johnson and gives us a preview of the upcoming World Baseball Classic. What is your favorite March event in Miami? I was a ball boy at the Miami Open— or Lipton, as it was called then—as a kid, so my March loyalty is to tennis, but Ultra Music Festival really changed the landscape of this city. What was it like interviewing former NFL and University of Miami coach Jimmy Johnson? He is just a cool guy and a football legend. Whether it’s football, fishing, or even TV ratings, you can tell he’s competitive, but he’s got this charm and charisma that make him incredibly likable, even if he’s doing some trash-talking.
