Ranked as number one on Trip Advisors Traveler’s Choice five years running, The Sandalwood Resort runs one fantastic luxury hotel. If the reviews are any indicator, (one customer describing it as “Heaven on Earth”), you will not find a better place that offers the most professional and pristine accommodations and services. Located on top of a hill, the resort allows guests a prime view of the surrounding ocean and island. You can enjoy this view whilst walking through the stone-paved, lush green gardens, or from the privacy of your very own villa.

You can choose from 10 different Thai-style pavilions, from a studio up to a four-bedroom villa, each with direct access to one of the resort’s five infinity pools.

The floral-named one bedrooms or studio villas are accented with stunning marble work, giving the room a sophisticated and royal tone. Juxtaposed with a color scheme that is also soft and soothing, the room exudes a welcoming and comforting atmosphere. Heavy drapes line the beds and windows and the room is decorated with local Thai art. As a special amenity, all of the rooms come with a Jacuzzi for you to relax with a special someone and enjoy the premium view.

The one bedroom villas are open and airy, with floor to ceiling windows that give full access to the stunning backdrop with a balcony and private pool.

Stay in style in a two-bedroom villas with hardwood furniture, marbled floors and bright touches from the Thai artwork. The kitchen features granite countertops and plenty of room to cook and the patio offers a quaint spa bath and those taking advantage of the hiking ventures on the island will appreciate this spa after a long day of adventuring.

Finally, the Leelawadee Villa is the resort’s gem. Featuring both indoor and outdoor living, this villa has an infinity pool, Jacuzzi, outdoor shower, and an outdoor balcony with a dining table, and that’s only the exterior! The interior features a full kitchen, three bedrooms and lounge area. This is an unsurpassable villa for those staying with a group or those looking for the ultimate in luxury.

Thailand’s cuisine is known for their spices and flavors, all of which are done extraordinarily well at the Blue Ginger Restaurant at Sandalwood Resort. The menu features some Thai specialties, including the delectable Nua Pad Nam Pad Hoy, a savory beef dish served with carrots, spring onions, peppers, chiles and an oyster sauce. If you have a sensitive palate, any of these dishes can be made mild. And if you’re missing home, the Blue Ginger Restaurant also features a Western Menu, composed of fettuccine, Greek Salads, and salmon entrees amongst others. One entre you won’t want to miss out on is the Thai dessert. The mango with sticky rice is a traditional and delicious Thai delicacy, and is perfectly refreshing after a long day in the sun.

Whether your perfect vacation is relaxing on beautiful beaches or experiencing exciting new adventures, the Sandalwood Resort aims to make sure that you have access to it all. For those addicted to adrenaline rushes and the excitement of extreme sports, or perhaps just wishing to try something new, Bungy Jumping is offered at the Chaweng Beach. Or if you’re looking for something on the quieter and subtler side, you can go kayaking at the Ang Thong National Marine Park or visit the beautiful waterfalls located throughout the Island. If you are looking to immerse yourself in Thai Culture, the resort offers Thai Cooking Classes at the Blue Ginger Restaurant. Classes can be taken on a one on one basis, or with a group of your friends or family. Guests can also participate in the art of Muay Thai, which is a traditional sport played on the island, similar to boxing. But don’t worry about it being a contact sport, it has turned into more of an aerobic and fitness activity over the years.

The Sanctuary Spa at Sandalwood is a true sanctuary of relaxation. Every detail and design enhances an atmosphere of calm and comfort. The Spa rooms are beautiful, with dark hardwood floors, an airy open space with windows that overlook coconut trees and the ocean.

The Massages here are catered to couples and the resort offers a variety of packages for you and your partner. The Spa Lover package is an especially popular one, where you and your honey can each receive a one hour facial treatment, a one hour body scrub or body wrap, a one hour Thai massage treatment, a one hour foot reflexology massage, a one hour aromatherapy essential oils massage and daily use of the steam room.reef

Guests rave about the location of Amari Palm Reef Resort, calling it the “best location” and stating that “Amari does it better”. This resort is located on the northern end of the island in a secluded section next to the Island’s most popular beach, Chaweng Beach. Not only do the ocean views and private atmosphere grant it a great location, but the resort is also walking distance from the popular shops and restaurants of Chaweng.

On the property guest rooms are separated into three different sections: The Beachside, the Thai Village, and the Deluxe Garden. Each wing features their own unique amenities, ranging from private pool to personal fitness rooms.

The Beachside Wing is perfect for those looking to see and be on the beach as much as possible. All of the rooms offered in this wing are ocean view and come with a beachside swimming pool as well as a scuba dive shop for those excited to see the marine life. There are three different room options: the Superior Beach King Rooms, which feature a balcony and a contemporary Thai Style; The Deluxe Beach Wing which offers plenty of open space; and the Junior Suite Ocean Views, with perfectly fitting Thai furnishings and décor you’ll want to ship home!

The Thai Village Wing offers quaint accommodation in the traditional Thai fashion, featuring amenities like a private swimming pool, fitness room, and spa. These rooms are large and perfect for guests staying with families. Most of the rooms have floor to ceiling windows so you can enjoy the island and its scenery in its full glory. In this wing you can choose from the Deluxe Thai Village, the Deluxe Thai Village Family, and the Deluxe Pool View.

The Deluxe Garden Wing rooms are the most spacious and serene and are surrounded by the landscaped tropical gardens of the resort. The Deluxe Garden View rooms feature a private veranda with a dining table so you can enjoy your meals before the natural beauty of the island. The rooms feature hardwood floors and traditional furniture enhanced by bright traditional Thai décor.

There are two restaurants and two bars at the resort. If you are looking to try traditional Thai cuisine, check out Merante, which features Asian and Thai dining. If you are looking for something a little more close to home, the Amari Palm Reef also offers a fine dining Italian option at a restaurant called Prego. It features a romantic, open-air dining set up, and the menu includes fresh salads, delectable pizzas, hand-made pasta and fresh seafood.

The two bars on the property are the Bar@c and Pool Bar. If you are looking for something a little more upscale, the Bar@c is a seaside bar, placed specifically so you can watch the sunset as you enjoy your drink. The Pool Bar is perfect for daytime lounging to enjoy a cocktail while relaxing poolside.

Other than playing in the surf at the beautiful Chaweng Beach just a quick stride from your doorstep, the Amari Palm Reef recommends you hire a car to take you to the beautiful waterfalls located at the center of the Island or visit the large coconut groves that Koh Samui is known for. As an extremely special and once in a lifetime opportunity, the resort is connected with the Discovery Dive Centre, a premier 5-star PADI center and one of the largest running dive shops on the island. At the dive school you can discover scuba diving as well as open water diving. The staff is professional and friendly and will gladly take some professional photos of you so these memories can last a lifetime.

The Breeze Spa has perfected the art of well-being. The Amari Palm Reef constructed the Spa Sanctum in the middle of their tropical gardens and you can rejuvenate amongst the beauty of the Island. With an extensive service menu offering a variety of individual and couples massages and therapies, choose from traditional Thai style massage, body polishes and wraps, facials, water treatments and classic beauty therapies.
