Following his capture at the end of the first film, the second installment of the Harry Potter prequel series kicks off with the escape of Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp). Free again, the dark wizard is as determined as ever to carry out his plans of making nonmagical folk inferior to purebloods. Courageous Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) is spurred into action, but he can’t stop Grindelwald on his own. The goodhearted wizard recruits his former pupil Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to help, though he’s unaware of the terrible risks and dangers that lie ahead.

As with the first Fantastic Beasts flick, author J.K. Rowling singlehandedly wrote the screenplay.
