It’s some­thing of a mid-20th­cen­tury con­cept, but a deck can be made to look tra­di­tional.

A low, wooden porch without rail­ings, some­times called a farmer’s porch, is es­sen­tially a roofed deck. This Vic­to­rian ex­am­ple is fully out­fit­ted, but it’s also a model for what an open deck ( on a se­condary façade) could be.
