Blue Jays: RHP Aaron Sanchez pitched seven shutout innings to win his 10th consecutiv­e decision, OF Kevin Pillar had three hits and the Blue Jays beat the Padres 4-2 on Monday night. Sanchez (11-1) became the first Jays pitcher to win 10 straight since Roy Halladay won 15 decisions in a row in 2003. Halladay and Roger Clemens (1998) hold the club record.

Tigers: RHP Justin Verlander allowed five hits over six innings, SS Jose Iglesias hit a two-run homer in the sixth and the Tigers beat the Red Sox 4-2 to spoil LHP Drew Pomeranz’s second start with Boston. DH Victor Martinez and C James McCann also drove in runs for the Tigers, who pulled

within 5 1⁄2 games of idle American League Central-leading Indians.

Yankees: C Austin Romine hit a tiebreakin­g double in the eighth inning to make a winner of RHP Michael Pineda,and the Yankees’ bullpen did just fine Monday without star closer Aroldis Chapman in a 2-1 victory over the Astros. Hours after Chapman was traded to the Cubs, All-Star relievers Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller closed out the Astros to help the Yankees move three games above .500 for the first time this season.

Phillies: RHP Jeremy Hellickson dominated the Marlins for a second straight start, throwing six innings of one-hit ball to help the Phillies earn a 4-0 victory. 1B Tommy Joseph hit a two-out RBI double in the top of the eighth to break a scoreless tie and David Hernandez pitched an inning in relief to get the win as four Phillies pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout. Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki grounded out in his only at-bat — a pinch-hit appearance in the eighth — to remain at 2,996 career hits.

Orioles: OF Adam Jones scored the winning run in the 10th inning on a low throw to the plate by RHP Jordan Lyles, as the Orioles beat the Rockies 3-2 for their fifth straight victory. Jones drove in the other two runs as the Orioles climbed to a season-high 18 games over .500.
