Laura Hodos debuts cabaret in Winter Park
Laura Hodos is taking a trip to the movies and inviting everyone along. The local singer-actor will debut her latest solo cabaret, “By the Light of the Silvery Screen,” Nov. 7 and 8 at Winter Park Playhouse.
In the show, Hodos will put the spotlight on songs from the golden age of the silver screen. She’ll pay tribute to such artists as Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey and Barbra Streisand, as well as the movie studios that made them famous. Playhouse musical director Christopher Leavy will accompany.
A nationally acclaimed stage performer, Hodos has been a Cabaret Fellow with the Cabaret and Performance Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center in Connecticut. She has shared the stage with well-known performers such as Tituss Burgess, Andrea McArdle, Faith Prince, Davis Gaines, Maureen McGovern and Jason Robert Brown. And she has been a vocal soloist with the Orlando Philharmonic, the Jacksonville Symphony and the Sarasota Orchestra.
Among her recent performances are Aldonza in Orlando Shakes’ “Man of La Mancha” and Helen in Mad Cow Theatre’s “Fun Home.”
