SHOOTING EDITOR JOHN B. SNOW REPLIES:

Outdoor Life - - THE LIFE -

Complaints about the cost of new guns and optics pop up after our annual Gun and Optics Tests with the predictability of mushrooms after a spring rain. It seems anything that costs more than an oil change is the latest sign of the apocalypse. The products we test are selected because they are genuinely new and innovative. And—surprise—manufacturers tend to put new tech into their higherpriced products. If you don’t see a $99 special in the test, it’s because it either isn’t new or it’s utter junk and not worth buying.
