A re­cent study of young, healthy adults found that those with the high­est blood lev­els of omega-3 fatty acids had over­all lower blood pres­sure than those who had the low­est blood lev­els of omega-3s. The study, pre­sented at the Amer­i­can Heart As­so­ci­a­tion’s Sci­en­tific Ses­sions, sug­gests eat­ing di­ets rich in omega-3s from fatty fish, plant oils and sup­ple­ments could be a strat­egy to pre­vent high blood pres­sure, a lead­ing cause of stroke and car­dio­vas­cu­lar dis­ease.
