OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME
Peyton Manning, quarterback, Broncos
Reports of Manning’s demise were greatly exaggerated. The 39-year-old struggled mightily in the first six games of the season, putting himself under a national microscope. Against the Packers, he looked like his all-pro self. Enjoying stellar protection, Manning dissected the Green Bay secondary with the precision of a surgeon. He threw the ball effectively long, short, and everything in between—but especially on crossing routes to his athletic tight ends. Manning’s final stats were impressive: 21 of 29 for 340 yards with an interception. Most important, he was in complete command as the balanced Broncos simply overwhelmed the Packers with 500 yards of total offense.
